NOTW: Orly Glitz & Glamour + OPI Black Shatter

The salon store at the mall finally had OPI Black Shatter is stock when I went today. I picked up a bottle, and had to try it out as soon as I got home. I figured a crazy shiny foil would be perfect to put Shatter over.

I did 2 coats of Orly Glitz & Glamour over base, then a thin coat of OPI Black Shatter. I topped it with a coat of NYC Top Coat, then a coat of Seche Vite. I didn't have as much shrinkage as usual, so I may keep doing the two top coats.

I really like how this looks. The gold foil is awesome under the shatter, it kindof looks like leopard print if you look at it quickly. I ended up doing my friend's nails the same since she liked mine so much.

Yodel Me + Love Letters

My bottle of NYC Love Letters caught my eye when I was washing my face tonight so, despite the fact that my manicure is in shambles (polish peeled off of 5 nails) and I'm changing it tomorrow, I wanted to see how it looked over OPI Yodel Me On My Cell.

Please forgive the chip-age, this is after 7 days of wear. I did one quick coat of Love Letters over Yodel. I didn't put a top coat on. Look at the gorgeousness that this is. The pink shimmer is crazy strong, and looks so good over the teal. Why, oh why, didn't I think of this earlier?!

NOTW: OPI Yodel Me On My Cell

I'm going to see Civil Twilight tonight (whoo!!!), so I needed a rocking blue-ish polish to go with my outfit. Finally, I ended up choosing OPI Yodel Me On My Cell.

Pic taken before clean up. Its so glow-y and pretty! I can't believe I didn't get this when the Swiss collection first came out. This is three coats over base, and finished with Sech Vite.

Now I must go listen to "Letters From the Sky" for the millionth time. *sigh* Good stuff.

Zoya BOGO Sale

For those of you who haven't heard, Zoya is having a BOGO sale on their summer collections. You do have to have an account to take advantage of the promo, though.

I just put in my order. I ended up getting 5 polishes. From the Sunshine collection, I got Faye and Apple. From the Summertime collection, I got Mira. And from the ModMattes collection, I got Phoebe. I also picked up Ki since I've been lemming her for a while, and thought I should pick it up now, since shipping was only $2.

I just can't wait until these show up. According to my order info, Phoebe's on backorder. A real bummer, since I was really looking forward to her, but oh well.

NYC Love Letters

I really shouldn't be posting (or doing my nails, for that matter) since I should be working on a unit plan, but I had to get post this. I've gotten really bored of Life Preserver for some reason, so I decided to jazz it up with NYC Love Letters that I picked up today. The result is GORGEOUS. Unfortunately, I spent 15 minutes trying to get a decent picture of it, and failed spectacularly.

This was the best I could do (sorry!). I've seen tons of swatches of Love Letters online, but in real life it's 1000 times more awesome. Over Life Preserver, Love Letters flashes pink and green depending on the angle. So pretty! This was one thin-ish coat over Life Preserver, topped with Seche Vite.

NOTW: China Glaze Life Preserver

This is my first (and only) China Glaze polish. I don't know why it took me so long to finally pick up a China Glaze polish. But now I know what I'm missing. Here's a pic (courtesy of my newly-discovered macro function!!)

This is after a day of wear. I did one quick thick coat over base, and topped it with Seche Vite. I was in a time crunch, so I didn't do the second coat that I would have liked. Life Preserver is a great color. I thought it would be a bit too brown based for spring, but its a great, bright, dusty (is that possible?) orange.

Now I must go plan my next trip to the mall to buy some more China Glaze. :)

NOTW: St. Patty's Day!!!

I love St. Patty's Day. And not just for the excuse to get wasted. So, in honor of my Irish heritage, I decided to go with a crazy green manicure this week.

I admit, this is a bit over the top (at least for me), but St Patty's Day only comes once a year. I went through my stash and picked four different greens for this manicure. I used Color Club Twiggie on my thumb (which the camera flash totally washed it out, it's much brighter in person). Index is OPI Here Today...Aragon Tomorrow. Middle is Sally Hansen HD Hi-Def. And my pinky is OPI WHo the Shrek are You? I did 2 coats each, and finished with Seche Vite (except for Hi-Def, which doesn't want to cooperate).

On my ring finger, I did a water marble using all four colors. I really wanted to include Revlon Minted into the water marble, but that polish doesn't work with marbling. I put a drop into the water, and it sunk straight to the bottom :( bummer.

Happy (early) St. Patty's Day everyone!

'Nother Haul...I Can't Stop

Apparently, I am on a mission to spend all the money that I have on makeup. I went to CVS today to fill some holes in my stash, and came out with wayy more than I expected to.

From left to right:

  • L'Oreal Forest Smokes
  • NYC Love Me Red Creme
  • Lumene Waterproof Makeup Remover (my favorite makeup remover, ever!!)
  • NYC Automatic Lip Liner in Bare Brown
  • NYC Automatic Eye Liner in Plum Perfect (that's what it says, but it looks black, to me)
  • NYC Extreme Lip Glider Lip Gloss in Chelsea Rose
  • Revlon ColorStay Liquid Liner in Blackest Black
  • NYC Kiss Gloss in Pink Lemonade

I've tried a few things out already, and I'm absolutely in love with the glosses, and Revlon liner. The NYC liners are okay, but not what I expected. A bit sheer, but they build up well.

Mini Haul and Stuff

Few things today. First up, an addition to the Project 10 Pan list.
I finally finished up my sample-sized Lancome L'Extreme mascara. I LOVE this stuff, but its just to expensive to justify paying $30+ for mascara. So, the list is now:
  • Clinique 3-Step System (sample)
  • Lancome L'Extreme mascara (sample)

Next up, I have a little mini haul from today. I went out to the Christmas Tree Shop with my mom and grandma and picked up a couple things.Since I used up my Lancome mascara, and my backup Clinique mascara dried out, I needed something to replace them. I picked up Maybelline Colossal Volume mascara. I tried it out when I got home, and I have a new love. It doesn't clump, and makes my lashes look sooo long and thick.

And since I, apparently, can not walk down a makeup aisle without picking up nail polish, I ended up getting Revlon Minted. When I saw this, it reminded me of those Shamrock Shakes at McDonalds and, since I'm gearing up for St. Patty's Day, I decided to get it for a festive manicure.

And that's it for today. G'night everyone!

NOTW: Sally Hansen Sonic Bloom & Water Marble

I want it to be spring so bad. I want the snow to go away, I want to put away the winter coats, I want to break out the flip flops. All I can do at the moment, however, is break out the bright colored nail polish.

I haven't done a water marble in a while, so I decided to do a pink and yellow marble on my accent nail. It didn't come out exactly like I had imaginied, but its still cute and springy!

I did one coat of Sonic Bloom, which is more of a hot pink than the photo shows, on all nails except the accent nail. I did the water marble with Sonic Bloom and Color Club Almost Famous, a great yellow. Unfortunately, apparently when these two meet, it makes the yellow somewhat orange. Oh well, it still came out cute.

Polish Haul!!

I was out having lunch with the bff, and I decided to hit up the salon after to see if they have OPI Black Shatter. They didn't have it. But oh well, I knew it was a long shot. I did end up grabbing a few discontinued OPIs and my first China Glaze!

From L-R: OPI Yodel Me On My Cell, OPI Overexposed in South Beach, and China Glaze Life Preserver.

I've wanted 'Yodel' for a while, and I'm glad I was able to get it on sale. 'Overexposed' caught my eye when I was pawing through the sale bin, and I couldn't not buy it. I really wanted one of the grey/blue colors from the Anchor's Away collection but, apparently, so did everyone else. Only the reds were left. This one was just so different I had to buy it.

I won't be wearing any of these for at least a week. I already have my manicure planned out for next week (hot pink w/ hot pink/bright yellow water marble accent...can you tell I want spring?), but I'll probably wear one of these after. Most likely one of the OPIs
